Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri Wins Miss World 2025
Opal Suchata Chuangsri from Thailand made history by winning the Miss World 2025 crown in Hyderabad, India. She became the first Thai contestant ever to claim this prestigious title, triumphing over 108 participants from around the world. The grand finale was an impressive event, with last year’s winner, Krystyna Pyszková, passing on the crown to Opal in front of a cheering audience. Ethiopia’s Hasset Dereje Admassu was named the first runner-up, while India’s Nandini Gupta reached the top 20 but did not advance further.
The 72nd Miss World pageant was co-hosted by Miss World 2016 Stephanie del Valle and Indian presenter Sachiin Kumbhar. The event celebrated not just beauty, but also intelligence, culture, and purpose. Opal’s win is a proud moment for Thailand, as she expressed her happiness and hope to inspire her country and the world. She said, “It is an honour to take the first Miss World crown to Thailand… I hope I have made them proud.”
Opal’s Inspiring Journey and Advocacy
Opal Suchata Chuangsri’s journey to the crown is marked by resilience and a strong sense of purpose. Born in Phuket in 2003, Opal comes from a family in the hospitality industry and is fluent in Thai, English, and Chinese. She is currently studying Political Science with a focus on International Relations at Thammasat University, reflecting her global outlook.
Her advocacy, “Opal For Her,” is deeply personal. At 16, Opal underwent surgery to remove a benign breast tumor. This experience inspired her to launch a campaign focused on breast health awareness and the importance of early detection. She now uses her platform to promote breast cancer awareness, aiming to empower women through education and preventive healthcare.
During the final question-answer round, judge Sonu Sood asked Opal what her Miss World journey taught her about truth and personal responsibility. Opal’s answer impressed everyone: “Be the person that someone or the other will look up to… The best way to lead people is to lead with gracefulness in your actions. That is the best thing we can do to the people around us and in our world.”
